Cruz signs with Royals

Check out this quote from the newest memeber of the KC Royals:

"I like this team because they have some young guys, they seem like they try to win and this is a good organization," Cruz said.

"Stacy" Andrews

This signing certainly debunks my theory that the Eagles may trade Shawn Andrews this offseason.  Several reports indicated that Andrews was "disinterested" last year.  But instead of burying him on the bench in '09 like we did with Lito Sheppard last year, the Eagles are going to acquiesce to Andrews and bring in his sister, Stacy.

They better not sign Houshmandzadeh now.  My Bengals quota is 1/2, and this signing puts us over the quota.  Honestly, I don't watch much Bengals football, so maybe this Andrews is a good player.  I really don't know.  I definitely felt that they needed help at OT, so this addresses that on some level.  The bad part is that he blew out his ACL in Week 15 last year.  So it is uncertain whether he will be ready for the start of the season.

The other problem is that this shows a vote of ZERO confidence in your friend, and my friend, Winnie Justice.  Looks like all the guys from that USC team were nothing more than "college" players.  Look at Leinart, Reggie Bush, Justice.......those guys really have done great things in the pros, eh?

Anyway, I think the Birds are gathering picks to make a move for Boldin.  Or maybe they just have so many holes that they want to stockpile draft picks.  In any case, I think they are going to struggle next year as it stands today.  Hopefully they can shore up the holes as the offseason progresses.

Eagles Blew It

The Eagles really blew it with Lito Sheppard.  They stubbornly held onto him last year, then buried him on the bench and destroyed any trade value the guy could have.  He was considered to be an elite corner, and now all they got for him was a lousy 5th round pick for this year.  They also get a conditional pick (2nd - 4th round) for next year.  I'm sorry, but management really let us down on this one.  Their stubborn, bullying ways really cost them.  Last year's draft was SOOOOOOOOO good.  A 3rd round pick in last year's draft could've been used to move up, or just used to take a good player.  Instead they sat on this guy because he didn't want to be here.  Very annoying.

NFL Free Agency / NFL Draft

What a weak crop of free agents this year.  I mean there is really nothing to get excited about here.  Haynesworth, Ray Lewis, and Warner.  Outside of that, it's a real group of duds.

I am hoping that the Eagles can add some "now" talent in the draft this season.

The team is really beginning to look like it has some holes.

Now that Dawkins is gone, you can add free safety to that list.  The Offensive Line is aging.  Really aging.  Westbrook is nearing the end.  They are really going to have to make some moves if they want to be a good team next season.

Alex Rodriguez

I give the guy respect for admitting he screwed up.  So what if he lied to Katie Couric.  She's annoying.  Is he still doing steroids?  I really don't care at this point.  Sports are rampant with steroids.

I bet you there is NOT ONE NFL player who has not used steroids at some point.  Anybody with a shred of common sense knows that it is not natural to be 6-5, 260 lbs, and runs a 4.4 40 yard-dash.  Let's get real people.  Have you ever watched the classic games on NFL network?  Today's lady swimmers look bigger than those guys.  What is the reason?  Did our society all of a sudden evolve that quick that people get that much bigger, stronger, faster?  Hell no.

If that were the case, we'd all be running 4.4 40 yard dashes.  Obviously, there is a missing ingredient, and that is all the supplements, both legal and illegal.  Frankly, I think these guys are screwing up by taking this stuff.  But who am I to judge some kid from Venezuela whose picture was on the back of a milk carton and wanted a way out?  I mean seriously how can you blame these guys.  Their whole family is sitting back home - all living in a shack somewhere and they got a chance to get EVERYBODY out.   How can you blame them?

I just get annoyed that only the great players are taking the fall for this.  There are plenty of other guys taking this stuff, trust me.
